GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its conference student-athlete of the week awards for the week of Dec. 12 and Gallaudet University freshman Benjamin Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) was selected as the NEAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for the third time this season.

Sealts won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.39 and placed first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:04.86. He set his fifth school record this season as he erased the Bison’s 200-yard backstroke record posted in 2008. Sealts was over four seconds faster than the previous school mark, taking the event with a time of 1:58.41. Sealts was also a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that placed second.

Cazenovia College sophomore Katherine Meehan was selected as the NEAC Women's Swimmer of the Week. She placed first in three individual events and one team event as the Wildcats defeated Gallaudet and SUNY Cobleskill. She earned first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.16 to defeat nine other competitors. Meehan also won the 200-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard individual medley with times of 2:40.01 and 2:38.88, respectively. She also swam a leg of the 200-yard medley relay for a team that earned a first-place finish with a time of 2:07.65.

This is Gallaudet's fourth NEAC Swimmer of the Week honor this year and Sealts' third of the season and his career.

The Bison next take to the pool in the new year on Jan. 12 when they host Penn State University at Altoona at 6 p.m.
