GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its conference student-athlete of the week awards for the week of Jan. 23 and Gallaudet University freshman Benjamin Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) was selected as the NEAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Sealts set a school record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a final time of 1:04.46. Sealts also finished first in the 100-yard individual medley and second in the 100-yard butterfly. In addition to his individual performances, Sealts was a member of the first-place 200-yard medley relay team that posted a time of 2:01.62 as GU defeated Stevenson, 136-53.

It was a clean sweep for the Gallaudet swimming program as sophomore Jackie Perkins (Hampton, Va.) was selected as the NEAC Women's Swimmer of the Week for a second straight week. She placed first in the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke events last Saturday with times of 34.83 and 1:16.56, respectively. Perkins also placed second in the 50-yard butterfly, finishing less than one second behind the race leader with a time of 32.98. She also competed on the 200-yard medley relay team that placed second as the Bison dropped their non-conference meet to Stevenson.

This is Gallaudet's sixth NEAC Swimmer of the Week honor this year and Sealts' fourth of his career.

Gallaudet will next prepare for the 2018 North Eastern Athletic Conference championship which will be held Feb. 16-18 in Cobleskill, N.Y. The Bison finished fifth in last year's conference championship.
