GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its conference student-athlete of the week awards for the week of Nov. 14 and Gallaudet University sophomore Chris Martinez (El Paso, Texas) was selected as the NEAC Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Martinez won three individual events and swam on a first-place relay team to lead the Bison to a 138-99 victory over Wells College last Saturday in Allentown, Pa. He rolled in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a new personal best time of 10:57.42. Martinez also took first place in the 50-yard breaststroke and 100-yard breaststroke with time of 31.37 and 1:07.41, respectively.

Cedar Crest senior Nithya Lakshminarayanan was selected as the NEAC Women's Swimmer of the Week honor. She helped her team pick up a first-place finish over Gallaudet and Wells. Lakshminarayanan won all three of her individual events and helped secure a win in the 200-yard medley relay with a team time of 2:11.54. Her performances in the 100-yard individual medley and the 200-yard freestyle bested the competition by over 10 seconds.

This is Gallaudet's second NEAC Swimmer of the Week honor this year and Martinez's first of the season and fifth of his career.

Gallaudet will next swim on Friday, Nov. 17, at Marymount (Va.) University at 6 p.m.
