Gallaudet's Benjamin Sealts named NEAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its conference student-athlete of the week awards for the week of Nov. 21 and Gallaudet University freshman Benjamin Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) was selected as the NEAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season. GU has earned this award three straight weeks.

Sealts won three individual events in a meet against Marymount last Friday. Sealts placed first among five competitors in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.84. The Bison rookie was also close to setting new school records in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke where he picked up wins with final times of 55.54 and 5.34, respectively.

Cazenovia College senior Nichole Secor was selected as the NEAC Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second time in three weeks. She had a first-place finish in four events to help the Wildcats top Cedar Crest College and Roberts Wesleyan College. Secor won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:56.80 and the 50-yard freestyle in 27.48. The Cazenovia senior also placed first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.92 to finish ahead of 10 swimmers by over six seconds. Secor was also part of the 400-yard medley relay team that finished first with a time of 4:48.80.

This is Gallaudet's third NEAC Swimmer of the Week honor this year and Sealts second of the season and his career.

Gallaudet will next swim on Saturday, Dec. 9, in Cazenovia, N.Y., to face two conference foes in SUNY Cobleskill and the host Wildcats of Cazenovia.
