ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Sophomore Ben Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) set three Gallaudet University records here Saturday on the first day of the Cedar Crest College Falcon Invitational. Sealts and his teammates helped the Bison take a strong lead as GU sits in first place with 319 team points through eight events.

Sealts had a hand in Gallaudet's seven first-place finishes on the day. He took first in five individual events and was part of two first-place relay teams.

Sealts set two school records in one event as he won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.47. The final time is nearly a second faster from his previous best time of 1:04.46 set on Jan. 20, 2018. On the first leg of the event, he completed the 50-yard breaststroke in 30.03 seconds to erase Chris Martinez's time of 31.13 set on Oct. 14, 2017.

Minutes later, Sealts dove back in and won the 50-yard butterfly with a new school mark of 25.37 seconds. That time edges the old time of 25.48 held by Jonathan Tikhonoff and set on Oct. 14, 2017.

Sealts was not done as he won the 100-yard backstroke (55.74), 200-yard IM (2:12.14), 500-yard freestyle (5:26.82) and was a member of two first-place relay teams.

Sealts joined freshman Barry McGrain III (Lakeville, N.Y.), freshmen AJ Markel (University Park, Md.) and Alton Markel (Buda, Texas) on the 200-yard medley relay as the Bison posted a first-place time of 1:56.12.

Sealts capped the day swimming the anchor leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay that included AJ Markel, freshman Elan Markel (University Park, Md.) and McGrain. The quartet posted a time of 4:01.17, over 25 seconds faster than SUNY Cobleskill's time of 4:26.87.

AJ Markel placed second in the 50-yard butterfly (26.10) and 50-yard freestyle (25.25). Elan Markel took second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.77).

SUNY Cobleskill, who won the 50-yard freestyle event, is a distant second with 132 team points while Roberts Wesleyan is third (84).

  • McGrain was third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:49.65)
