Bison drop dual meet to Goucher

WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University men's swimming and diving program lost its dual meet with Goucher College, 127-73, on Saturday in the Field House pool.

Gallaudet (1-4) won four of the 14 events against the Gophers.

Sophomore Ben Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) and freshman Barry McGrain III (Lakeville, N.Y.) won three and one event(s), respectively, to lead the Bison.

Sealts was first in the 100-yard IM with a fast time of 57.69 seconds and he was under a minute in the 100-yard butterfly (56.90). Sealts finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke when he touched the wall in 1:04.85.

McGrain III was first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.71). He took second in the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.29) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:45.58) where he set a new personal record time.

Sophomore Rett Jala (McAllen, Texas) took second in the 50-yard backstroke (36.82), with a new personal best time, and finished second in the 50-yard butterfly (35.12).

  • Freshman Jared Spinale (Camby, Ind.) was third in the 50-yard backstroke (37.51)
  • Spinale was fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a new personal record time of 29.31
  • Spinale was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:21.39)
  • Sophomore Xiangming Liu (Dandong, China) was fourth in the 50-yard breaststroke (47.38), a new personal best time
