BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Gallaudet University men's swimming and diving team lost a close meet, 126-107, here Saturday against Bridgewater (Va.) College.
Gallaudet (0-5) won two of the 14 events against the Eagles.
Junior Ben Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:13.78. Sealts was first in the 100-meter IM (1:05.05). Sealts just missed out on a third win when he finished second in the 200-meter freestyle (2:06.69) as he was right behind Bridgewater's Ryan Cunningham (2:06.16).
Sophomore Barry McGrain III (Hemlock, N.Y.) placed second in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 10:57.51.
Sophomore Nick Hohrman (Fergus Falls, Minn.) finished second in the 100-meter freestyle (1:06.96) and third in the 50-meter backstroke (36.35).
- GU's relay teams finished second and third in both the 200-meter medley and freestyle relay
- Junior Xiangming Liu (Dandong, China) was second in the 50-meter breaststroke (55.81)
- Junior Rett Jala (McAllen, Texas) was second in the 100-meter backstroke (1:34.24)
- Freshman Solomon Worthey (San Diego, Calif.) was second in the 50-meter butterfly (34.87) and third in the 50-meter freestyle (32.68) with junior Lukas Morkevicius (Seattle, Wash.) right behind in fourth (33.54)
Gallaudet will dive into North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) competition as the Bison travel north to Aurora, N.Y., to take on Wells College.
