Gallaudet senior KARI OLNEY (Riverside, Calif./California School F/T Deaf) and Mary Washington senior MAE WINCHESTER (Yorktown, Va./Yorktown) were named the CAC Womens Track & Field Athletes of the Week for double gold-medal performances at the Battleground Relays at the University of Mary Washington
Senior Kari Olney once again emerged victorious at both 3000 meter races at the Battleground Relays held in Fredericksburg, Virginia this weekend. Olney beat a field of four other runners on Friday to capture the open 3000m Run. She then overcame an early fall in the 3000m Steeplechase winning with a push on the last lap. Kari is currently leading the conference in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 12:47.74. Through three meets, Olney has placed first in all events at the 3000m distance.
The Gallaudet track and field team traveled to Salisbury, Maryland for the Sea Gull Opener. The temperature was in stark contrast to last weekends meet in Rockville, with temperatures in the mid 70s and an endless amount of sunshine. The Bison tried to take advantage of this break in the weather to improve upon their efforts of only a week prior, as nearly everyone on the team finished with a season best performance.
