SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman jumper Darius Flowers (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) finished sixth overall in the triple jump Friday at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Track and Field Championships hosted by Springfield College.
Flowers was in the second flight of nine jumpers. His best jump of the day was 46 feet, 4.25 inches (14.13 meters) which earned three team points for Gallaudet’s men’s track and field team. Flowers is the only Bison representative at the ECAC championships. Connecticut College senior Alex Samma won the event with a jump of 48 feet, 4.75 inches (14.75 meters) out of 18 jumpers. Flowers’ seeded jump was 14.72 meters, which if duplicated on Friday would have given him second place in the event. This is the final day of the two-day ECAC championships.
