FAIRFAX, Va. - The Gallaudet University men's indoor track and field team finished indoor competition here Sunday as they competed in the George Mason Last Chance meet.
Freshman sprinter Nick Jones (Fulton, Mo.) competed in three of 16 events in the meet for Gallaudet. His best finish came in the 400-meter dash, where he finished in 10th place with a time of 53.06 seconds, just six tenths of a second shy of a qualifying for a spot in the final heat.
Jones also took 19th place in both the 200-meter dash (23.52) and the 60-meter dash (7.39).
Finishing just in front of Jones during the 60-meter dash was junior sprinter Toraneau Varice (Deerfield Beach, Fla.). Varice crossed the finish line in 7.36 seconds, which was good for a 17th place finish.
Senior John Isaacson (Clive, Iowa) competed in the 400-meter dash and finished in seventh place with a time of 2:07.01.
The hosts George Mason finished in first place overall accumulating a total of 49 team points. American University finished in a close second with 46 points while Hampton University placed third with 20 points.
- Sophomore Gunner Hahn (Stevens Point, Wis.) placed 15th in the 60-meter hurdles (9.48)
- Freshman Jack Gray (Atherton, Calif.) participated in the long jump, placing 16th after jumping 5.80 meters (19 feet, three inches)
The Bison will begin outdoor competition this Saturday, March 4, when they head to Salisbury, Md., to compete in the Lloyd Sigler Spring meet hosted by Salisbury University.
