Bison return to the track and compete at the Jim Taylor Invitational

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - After two weeks off for spring break, the Gallaudet University men's track and field team returned to competition here Saturday at the Jim Taylor Invitational hosted by Susquehanna University. There were no team scores kept at this invitational.

Many Bison student-athletes continued to set personal best times and marks and improved on times and marks they had previously set earlier this season.

Freshman Eric Gregory (Metairie, La.) won the 100-meter dash, overall, with a top time of 10.82 seconds along with the 200-meter dash, overall, with a career best time of 21.74 seconds. In fact, the 21.74 second time improves Gregory's school record in the 200-meter dash. His previous best time was 21.95 seconds set on March 9.

Senior Toraneau Varice (Pompano Beach, Fla.) was Gallaudet's second fastest sprinter in the 100-meter dash (11.23) and 200-meter dash (22.80).

Senior Montray Roberts (Dallas, Texas) had a team best 54.02 time in the 400-meter dash.

Senior Michael Haynes (Edwardsville, Ill.) posted GU's best time in the 110-meter hurdles as he crossed the finish line in 15.57 seconds. Fellow senior Gunner Hahn (Delavan, Wis.) posted a time of 16.08 seconds. Hahn had a time of 1:01.15 in the 400-meter hurdles. 

In the field, junior Jamal Garner (Jacksonville, Ill.) had Gallaudet's best throw in the shot put as he threw the shot 13.23 meters. 

JaQuan Thomas (Savannah, Ga.) had GU's top toss in the discus with a throw of 33.38 meters followed by Juan Cornejo (Hamburg, N.J.) with a toss of 31.88 meters.

Freshman Nicholas Smith (Hamburg, Pa.) finished fourth in the second flight of the javelin with a top throw of 46.54 meters.


  • Freshman Liam Painter (Edgewood, N.M.) was fifth in his flight in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 5:14.54 followed by junior Dalton Attanasi (Hammonton, N.J.) in sixth (5:18.11)
  • Painter was fourth in his flight in the 800-meter run (2:19.75)

The Bison will host The Gallaudet University Invitational on Saturday, April 20, at the Thomas O. Berg Track.
