Four Bison compete at Swarthmore Last Chance Meet

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Gallaudet University men's track and field team had four student-athletes compete here Monday at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet to try and qualify for the 2019 NCAA Division III outdoor championship meet.

Freshman Eric Gregory (Metairie, La.) ran in the 100-meter dash and placed fourth overall with a time of 11.02 seconds. Gregory, who has qualified for nationals in the 200-meter dash did not run in that event at Swarthmore.

Senior Michael Haynes (Edwardsville, Ill.) finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles for the final time in his career with a time of 15.67 seconds. Penn St.-Harrisburg's Jalil Clayton won the race with a time of 14.88.

Senior Toraneau Varice (Pompano Beach, Fla.) ran for the Bison program for the final time and placed eighth overall in the 100- and 200-meter dash with times of 11.26 and 22.66 seconds, respectively.

Junior Jamal Garner (Jacksonville, Ill.) competed in the high jump but did not record a height.

Gregory will travel to Geneva, Ohio, next week to compete in the 2019 NCAA Division III outdoor championship meet in the 200-meter dash on Thursday, May 23.
