YORK, Pa. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team only had two runners compete on Saturday at the York (Pa.) College Invitational at John Rudy Park.
GU freshman Max Wilding (Colorado Springs, Colo.) continues to improve as he shaved nearly two and a half minutes from his first 8,000-meter race of the year, two weeks ago. He finished 36th overall with a time of 33 minutes and 52 seconds. Freshman Richard Camacho (Medford, Ore.) followed Wilding's lead and took two minutes off his previous best time in an 8,000-meter race. Camacho finished 47th overall out of 50 runners in 39 minutes and 47 seconds.
Lancaster Bible College runner Sean Trott won the race as he finished first in 26 minutes and 42 seconds.
The host Spartans won the invitational with 28 points followed by St. Mary's (Md.) College (60 points) and Hood College (73 points). A team needs five runners to earn team points. Two other Capital Athletic Conference teams, Stevenson University and Marymount (Va.) University, did not have enough runners to earn team points.
Gallaudet will next return to Salisbury, Md., and Winter Place Park to run in the Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday, September 26, at 10 a.m. The Bison began the season at the Sea Gull Opener on September 5 in Salisbury, Md.
