GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Oct. 20 and freshman Otto Kingstedt (Stockholm, Sweden) was chosen as the NEAC Men's Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week along with Morrisville State College junior Byron Evans for their exceptional performances this past weekend.
Kingstedt was the first to cross the finish line after he zoomed through the 7.5-kilometer loop in 24:31.4. Kingstedt topped the rest of the 82-runner field by at least 42 seconds en route to another individual title, his fourth this season. His performance helped the Bison place fourth out of 10 teams. He was on pace for a top three mark in school history but the Hood College Open was not measured properly and doesn't count as an 8K race.
Kingstedt has won the award six weeks, this week being the fifth straight week he has earned the honor. This is the sixth time in Gallaudet history that a runner has earned NEAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor.
The Bison are off this week before they travel to Jamesville Beach State Park in New York to compete in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship race on Halloween day, Oct. 31.
