TOWSON, Md. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team finished second overall here Saturday at the Goucher College Cross Country Classic. The Bison earned 59 points in the men's 8K race, 27 points behind Stevenson University, who won with 32 points.
GU freshman Otto Kingstedt (Stockholm, Sweden) won his third race this season with a time of 27:35.23. Kingstedt's time was nearly two minutes faster then Stevenson's Jackson Morrow (29:34:33), who finished second overall. Freshman Vicente Perez (Cicero, Ill.), who is developing into a top runner for the Bison, was the second Gallaudet runner to cross the finish line as he placed fifth with a time of 29:42.62.
Junior Alex Close (Tallahassee, Fla.) finished 10th as he crossed the line at 30:16.64. Sophomore Dylan Rich (Brockton, Mass.) finished 21st (31:56.63) and freshman Miguel Barrios (Riverside, Calif.) finished 38th (36:28.55) to conclude GU's team scoring.
Hood College finished the six-team race in third place (75 points) followed by the College of Southern Maryland (111), Goucher College (113) and Hagerstown Community College (120).
- Sophomore Joshua Branscomb (Memphis, Tenn.) was 40th (36:57.10)
- Sophomore John Isaacson (Clive, Iowa) was 42nd (37:00.26)
- Gallaudet's average time per runner was 31:11.94
- The team total time was 2:35:59.67
GU will next travel to Frederick, Md. next weekend, Saturday, Oct. 17 to race in the Hood College Open Meet at Utica Park.
