GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University men's cross country team was picked fourth in the 2016 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) preseason coaches poll released Friday. The Bison accumulated 86 team points and one first-place vote in the 12-team poll.
Gallaudet finished fourth at the 2015 NEAC championships last year hosted by Cazenovia College.
Three-time defending NEAC champion SUNY Poly is No. 1 as the Wildcats claimed seven first-place votes and 112 points. The Wildcats were tied with SUNY Cobleskill, who tallied four first-place votes and 112 points, as they held the higher ordinal number points. Morrisville State College was third with 98 points followed by Gallaudet and Penn St.-Abington (79 points).
Lancaster Bible will host the 2016 NEAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on Oct. 29, where all 12 teams will compete for a shot at the conference title.
The Bison begin the season Sept. 10, in Stevenson, Md., in the Mustang Stampede hosted by Stevenson University at 10:30 a.m.

The preseason poll rankings were conducted by the NEAC men’s cross country coaches, with each coach ranking out all teams but their own using a staggered points system (11 points for a first-place vote, 10 points for second, etc.). No self-voting was allowed. This is the second year the NEAC has held preseason polls and they will now become a staple of all 18 conference-sponsored sports moving forward.
