WINCHESTER, Va. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team finished 13th out of 13 teams on a warm Saturday at the Hornet Harrier meet hosted by Shenandoah University. The Bison tallied 377 team points as they ran up and down the hilly cross country course at Kernstown Battlefield.
Baldwin Wallace University won the 6K meet with 26 points. The host Hornets of Shenandoah were second with 93 points followed by Washington & Lee University with 107 points. Baldwin Wallace sophomore Isaac Wilson won the race in 19 minutes, 34.2 seconds.
Junior Miguel Barrios (Riverside, Calif.) was Gallaudet's top finisher as he crossed the finish line in 84th place with a time of 25:09.8. Sophomore Fangen Thompson (Hangzhou, China) followed in 93rd place (27:08.2). Sophomore Taylor Clark (Portland, Ore.) was the third Bison to finish in 110th place (32:02.2) while the duo of David Hernandez (Jacksonville, Texas) and Selman Jawed (Oakley, Calif.) placed 115th (34:02.5) and 116th (36:41.9), respectively, to round out GU's top five runners.
In the open 2-mile race, Gallaudet finished second with 45 points. GU's Michael Haynes (Olivette, Mo.) was the top Bison in 16th place with a time of 15:04.0 followed by Gunner Hahn (Ogema, Wis.) in 17th (15:07.3).
