MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team finished 12th overall at the 2017 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) cross country championships here Saturday hosted by Morrisville State College.
SUNY Poly won its fifth straight conference championship as the Wildcats compiled 40 team points as their top 5 runners finished in the top 16 spots. Penn College was second with 66 team points followed by SUNY Cobleskill (69 points) in third place. Gallaudet tallied 305 points as 13 teams competed.
Lancaster Bible College junior Tanner Krob won the 8K race with a time of 28 minutes, 13.4 seconds to lock up the NEAC Runner of the Year award and a place on the all-conference first team.
GU freshman Chance Hohneke (Lehi, Utah) was the first Bison to cross the finish line as he completed the challenging course in 32:57.5 in 34th place. Sophomore Kai Christenberry (Birmingham, Ala.) was over four minutes behind as he finished 73rd overall (37:01.5). Sophomore Robert Parcells (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the third GU runner to finish as he crossed in 77th place (37:46.9).
Gallaudet's final two spots in its top five included junior Gunner Hahn (Marshfield, Wis.) in 79th place (37:48.4), who was right on Parcells' heels, and sophomore Michael Haynes (Olivette, Mo.), six spots back, 83rd overall (39:01.4).
- Sophomore David Hernandez (Jacksonville, Texas) was 96th (44:47.6)
- Freshman Christian Jacobs (Claremont, Calif.) was 103rd (52:58.3)
- There were 104 runners in the championship field
- The top seven spots (1-7) earn all-conference first team, spots 8-14 earn second team, spots 15-21 earn third team honors
For most of the Gallaudet men's cross country team today marked the end of the season. Several Bison runners will continues their training for the 2017 NCAA Mideast Regional Championship being held in Newville, Pa., on Saturday, Nov. 11.
