LANCASTER, Pa. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team got a sneak peek of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship course here Saturday as it ran in the Charger Invitational hosted by Lancaster Bible College.
Gallaudet finished 14th out of 15 teams as eight different NEAC programs ran in the competition. SUNY Poly, the five-time defending NEAC champions, won the meet with 56 points followed by Lancaster Bible (58) and Penn College (78). Penn St.-Berks (112) took fourth while McDaniel College finished with 149 points to round out the top five spots. The other NEAC programs in the meet include Keuka College (208) in seventh, Penn St.-Abington (226) in eighth and Morrisville St. (262) in 11th.
McDaniel's Gavin Gibson won the 8K race in 26 minutes, 57 seconds as the invite featured a field of 134 runners.
GU freshman Jared Spinale (Camby, Ind.) was the top runner for the Bison squad as he finished 53rd with a time of 33:59.5. Freshman Liam Painter (Edgewood, N.M.) was the next Bison to finish in 84th place (36:39.8).
Freshman Brady Perry (Frederick, Md.) was the third Bison to cross the finish line 92nd overall (37:20.6) followed by junior Kai Christenberry (Birmingham, Ala.) in 98th place (37:42.6) while junior Dalton Attanasi (Hammonton, N.J.) was 116th (41:10), to round out the top five team scorers for the Bison.
- Freshman Peter Tran finished 128th overall (47:42.1)
- Junior David Hernandez (Jacksonville, Texas) was 131st (52:28.2)
- Sophomore Ronald Mattingly (Coconut Creek, Fla.) was 133rd (56:59.5)
- Freshman Jamari Porter (Alexandria, Va.) was the 134th (57:34.3) and final runner
Gallaudet will next travel south to Winchester, Va., to run in the Hornet Harrier next Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Kernstown Battlefield.
