Bison place fifth at Goucher Classic

TOWSON, Md. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team sloshed through mud and over stones at the Goucher Classic Saturday morning, as the root-laden 8K course posed a challenge for the Bison. GU ultimately landed in 5th place with 119 team points in the five-team race.

The U.S. Naval Academy took first place with 20 team points and six freshmen runners in the top ten, followed by Harford Community College (58) and the host Gophers of Goucher (77). Hagerstown Community College came in fourth place (97). Harford sophomore Hassan Elissa won the race in under thirty minutes, with a time of 27 minutes and 59.86 seconds.

Gallaudet sophomore Kai Christenberry (Birmingham, Ala.) was the first Bison to cross the finish line in 26th place (36:01.33). Freshman Liam Painter (Edgewood, N.M.) crossed the finish, a little over a minute later, in 29th place (37:02.79). Sophomore Gunner Hahn (Marshfield, Wis.) was the third Bison to finish, just shy of the 40-minute mark (39:00:89) in 33rd place, while freshman Peter Tran (Fountain Valley, Calif.) was the last Bison to finish under 50 minutes, in 38th place (44:16.83). Freshman Jamari Porter (Alexandria, Va.) finished the race in 41st place with a time of (54:44.68) as the fifth Bison to earn team points.

Gallaudet will run at the Hood College Open next Saturday, Oct. 13, at Utica Park in Frederick, Md., at 11:15 a.m.
