COCKEYSVILLE, Md. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team finished third at the Towson Invitational here Friday afternoon at Oregon Ridge State Park. The Bison scored 79 team points in their season-opening meet with three other schools.
McDaniel College won the four-team meet with 28 team points and a total time of 1:25:50. The Green Terror edged out Morgan State University, who also had 28 team points, but had a total team time of 1:26:44. Coppin State University was fourth with 105 team points.
McDaniel senior Gavin Gibson won the 5K race in 15 minutes, 28.20 seconds as the field featured 28 runners.
Freshman Jared Spinale (Camby, Ind.) was Gallaudet's top runner as he placed 13th overall with a time of 19:26.66. Junior Dalton Attansani (Hammonton, N.J.) was close behind Spinale in 15th place (20:19.66) along with freshman Brady Perry (Frederick, Md.) in 16th place (20:25.02). Junior Kai Christenberry (Birmingham, Ala.) was on Perry's heals in 17th place (20:32.99). Senior Alex Close (Tallahassee, Fla.) rounded out GU's top five runners in 18th place with a time of 21:02.40.
Junior Michael Haynes (Olivette, Mo.) finished 19th (22:09.36) while other Bison runners followed including sophomore Gunner Hahn (Marshfield, Wis.) in 22nd place (23:08.53), junior David Hernandez (Jacksonville, Texas) in 26th (28:08.51), sophomore Ronald Mattingly (Coconut Creek, Fla.) in 27th (28:46.21) and freshman Jamari Porter (Alexandria, Va.) in 28th (35:07.55).

Gallaudet will next run at the Charger Invitational hosted by Lancaster Bible College on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. in Lancaster, Pa.
