COLMAR MANOR, Md. - The Gallaudet University men's cross country team placed sixth at the Cardinal Classic hosted by the Catholic University of America here Saturday morning at Colmar Manor Community Park.
University of Mary Washington won the meet with 51 points followed by Juniata College (64 points), Catholic (66), Moravian College (75), Howard Community College (88), Gallaudet and Goucher College (208) in the seven-team race. Mary Washington freshman Patrick Brown won the 8K race, that featured 78 runners, with a time of 27 minutes, six seconds.
Sophomore Jared Spinale (Camby, Ind.) was eight minutes off the first-place time but was the first Bison to finish in 65th place with a time of 35:10.7. Spinale averaged 7:04.7 per mile.
Freshman Robert Saligman (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished 69th (37:58.6) as fellow teammates took six of the next eight spots on the warm and overcast day. Junior Dalton Attanasi (Hammonton, N.J.) placed 70th (38:50.2), freshman Jordan Kray (Vallejo, Calif.) was 71st and freshman Mbisana Kgakgamatso (Molepolole, Botswana) was 73rd (41:57.9) to complete Gallaudet's team scoring.
Freshman Steven Guerrier (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) was the next Bison to finish the fairly flat and dry course in 75th place (44:49.3). Freshman Jacob Stevens (Tularosa, N.M.) and freshman Cem Barutcu (Istanbul, Turkey) finished 76th (45:15.1) and 77th (47:14.2), respectively, as the pair fought through the grueling race and finished.

Gallaudet is off next weekend before the Bison run at the Hornet Harrier hosted by Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va., at the Kernstown Battlefield on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m.
