Lee picked as NEAC Softball Player of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its student-athlete of the week awards for March 24 and Gallaudet University sophomore infielder Chelsea Lee was selected as the NEAC Softball Player of the Week.

Lee was Galaudet's top hitter during its eight-game spring break trip in Myrtle Beach, S.C., as she racked up a home run, a triple and four doubles on 11 hits while driving in seven RBI and scoring nine runs of her own. She had a hit in all but one contest, including three in a 14-2 win over New Rochelle last Monday where she was a triple shy of the cycle as she drove in three runs and scored twice. Lee also came up big during a 3-2 win over Albright last Wednesday, registering an RBI double and scoring a run. On the field, she posted 13 putouts and 13 assists in 29 chances.

This is the third NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week award for the Bison softball team this season.

College of Saint Elizabeth sophomore Christina Scolaro was named this week's NEAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Senior pitcher Rachel Sweigart (Big Rock, Ill.) and junior infielder Mia Fernandez (Artesia, N.M.) swept the NEAC awards on March 10.

Gallaudet (8-10) will host Penn St.-Abington (0-0) on Saturday, March 29, in a NEAC doubleheader set to start at noon. This will be GU's first conference games of the season.
