CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Gallaudet University softball team was unlucky here Sunday as the Bison lost two leads against Wilson College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) doubleheader sweep. The Bison held a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning of the first game before falling behind. GU rallied to tie it, only to give-up a three-run home run in the seventh to lose it 8-5. In the second game, Gallaudet (7-7, 1-5 NEAC) led 4-0 after two innings and took a 4-1 lead into the sixth before losing 6-4 to Wilson (9-9, 2-0 NEAC).
Game 1: Wilson 8, Gallaudet 5
Gallaudet trailed, led, trailed, tied it and lost it in a matter of innings against Wilson. The Phoenix scored two runs early to start things off before the Bison scored four times in the fourth inning. Freshman Morgan Anderson (Faribault, Minn.), had an infield single score two runs to highlight the four-run frame. Wilson responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth and took the lead with two runs in the fifth.
Wilson's Jennifer Patton (four RBI) stepped to the plate with two runners on base and two outs as she stepped in against Fetzer. Patton bashed a three-run home run to left field, over the fence, to win the game in walk-off fasion.
Fetzer (2-4) took the loss as she allowed three runs in 2.2 innings in relief as she surrendered five hits, walked one and struck out two.
Kayla Sullenberger (4-4) evened her record on the season with a complete game victory as she allowed five runs on six hits, walked four and struck out six.
Game 2: Wilson 6, Gallaudet 4
The Bison wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as they scored twice in the first inning. Sophomore Kelsey Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) doubled to left field to bring home fellow sophomore Jordan Hogan (Severn, Md.). Hudson scored, moments later, when sophomore Emily Walters (Gillette, Wyo.) singled to the shortstop.
Hogan singled and scored Adele Fass (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the second inning. On the same play, an error by the outfielder allowed Hogan to come all the way around the bases and score as GU led 4-0 after two innings.
Wilson scored a run in the bottom of the third to cut the margin to one, 2-1.
The Phoenix broke open the game in the sixth with five runs off Hogan (3-2), GU's starting pitcher, highlighted by a two-run single by Sullenberger.
Hogan allowed six runs (four earned) off 13 hits, three walks and one strikeout. Taylor Crouse (3-4) took the win as she allowed four runs (one earned) on nine hits, walked four and struck out five in the win. She went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, two runs and one RBI

- This doubleheader was originally scheduled for yesterday (Saturday, April 9) but got moved back one day due to weather
Gallaudet returns home to host Catholic University of America (17-7) in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday, April 14. The two teams were slated to face each other this past Thursday but pushed the games back a week due to rain.
