GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its student-athlete of the week awards for March 11 and Gallaudet University sophomore Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) was selected as the NEAC Softball Player of the Week.
Neild led GU last week with a .684 batting average as the Bison went 3-3. The sophomore shortstop went 13-for-19 with hits in six straight games. Neild totaled 10 RBI, eight runs, five triples, four doubles and one inside-the-park home run with a 1.579 slugging percentage. She finished the week with 30 total bases and a .684 on-base percentage while also turning three double plays and picking up 10 assists in the field.
Penn St.-Berks senior Jess Rozick was named NEAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Rozick tossed three complete games and allowed six earned runs in 23 innings pitched. She recorded 21 strikeouts in four appearances, including a pair of games where she sat down nine batters. The Nittany Lions' senior finished the week with a 1.83 ERA and averaged 6.39 strikeouts per seven innings.
This marks the first NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week honor for the Bison this season and Neild's third honor of her career.
