WASHINGTON, D.C. – Fans of Gallaudet University athletics across the country will have two chances this weekend to see stories on the nationally ranked women's basketball team. The team will be featured on ABC World News on Saturday evening and on National Public Radio (NPR) on Sunday morning. Both national media outlets will also post their respective stories online as well.
ABC News and NPR came out to last Wednesday's 70-57 win over Penn St.-Berks as the No. 18 Bison increased its winning streak to 20-0. NPR reporter Audie Cornish conducted interviews with the team after the win while ABC News reporter Jon Donvan stopped out to the Field House on Thursday afternoon to do interviews with Coach Kevin Cook and the team.
The ABC World News story is slated to run on Saturday evening but it could be moved to Sunday depending on the news occurring on Saturday. Please check your local listings to see when ABC World News airs in your area. In the District of Columbia you can watch the broadcast at 6 p.m. on Saturday on WJLA (channel 7). On Sunday, ABC World News airs at 6:30 p.m.
The Gallaudet story on NPR is part of its Weekend Edition Sunday show. In the District of Columbia you can tune into 88.5 AM (WAMU) as the show runs from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. The story is slated to run an hour and a half into the program so in D.C. it will be on at 9:30 a.m.
