WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team continues to gain recognition nationally as the Bison received more votes this past week in the two different Top 25 polls.
Gallaudet (7-0) received 25 points, up 23 from last week, in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll while the Bison gained six points in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Top 25 coaches' poll through the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) up to eight total points. If you count out the teams receiving votes in the coaches' poll Gallaudet would be No. 29 tied with four other schools with eight points each. GU is the 31st school ranked in the D3hoops.com poll.
Gallaudet is the only team from the North Eastern Athletic Conference to receive votes in either poll. Both polls are updated every Tuesday. Amherst College (7-0), a national semifinalist a year ago is ranked No. 1 in both polls.
About the polls
The D3hoops.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. The USA TODAY/ESPN board of coaches is made up of nine head coaches at Division III institutions. All are members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
