WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's basketball team lost, 73-57, here Thursday night in the Field House against Randolph-Macon College in a non-conference game. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Bison 22-9 in the decisive third quarter to erase GU's 31-30 halftime lead.
Randolph-Macon (11-11) went to work in the post in the third quarter as it scored 18 points in the paint and 12 off Gallaudet (10-10) turnovers. Senior forward Katie Anderson (12 rebounds) scored eight of her game-high 26 points in the the third quarter to lead the Yellow Jackets. In the process she recorded her 15th double-double of the season.
GU could only cut R-MC's lead down to 13 points, twice, in the fourth quarter as the Yellow Jackets sailed to the 16-point win.
Gallaudet offense was once again led by senior Zamica Gage (Washington, D.C.), who scored 20 points to go with three rebounds, three assists and three steals. Senior forward Danielle Morris (St. Louis, Mich.) and sophomore guard Sabina Shysh (Tucson, Ariz.) earned double-doubles in the game. This is Shysh's first double-double this season with 13 points and a season-high 10 rebounds. Morris now has three double-doubles for the season as she tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds.
The Yellow Jackets sunk the first shot of the game from behind the three-point line and kept the lead from the Bison throughout most of the first half.
With just four minutes left to go at the end of the second quarter Gage made two free throws to tie the game at 23. Morris gave the Bison a boost with a layup at the 4:03 mark to put Gallaudet up 25-23, its first lead in the game. As time ran out the score stayed close but with 45 seconds left, sophomore guard Kori Koss (Green Bay, Wis.) drained a jumper to give the Bison the last lead of the half, 31-30.

The Bison remain at home and will host Wilson College (2-17, 0-16 NEAC) on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear something pink as the Bison participate in the annual Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Pink Day.
