Neild and Stevens earn NEAC Women's Basketball Player and Coach of the Year, two Bison on All-NEAC teams

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) released its 2018-19 women's basketball all-conference awards Thursday and Gallaudet University was well represented as the Bison took home two major awards and had two All-NEAC selections.

Senior guard/forward Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) was named the NEAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year as she makes a return appearance on the all-conference first team. Fellow senior guard Sabina Shysh (Tucson, Ariz.) was selected to the all-conference second team for the first time in her career. Coach Stephanie Stevens was voted by her peers as NEAC Coach of the Year for the first time in her career after leading the Bison to their best regular season in her seven-year tenure. 

Neild is Gallaudet's second NEAC Player of the Year and first since Easter Fa'afiti (2010-11), that same year Coach Kevin Cook was named NEAC Coach of the Year. Stevens, who was a graduate assistant on that 2010-11 staff, is now GU's second NEAC Coach of the Year.

SUNY Poly freshman forward Molly Burdick was named NEAC Rookie of the Year as she ranks sixth in the NEAC in scoring (422 points).

The Bison have 10 All-NEAC honors (6 first team, 3 second team, 1 third team) since joining the conference in 2010-11.

2018-19 NEAC Coach of the Year...Coach Stevens led Gallaudet to its best regular season in her seven-year tenure with a 16-9 record and 13-3 mark in NEAC play...the Bison locked up the NEAC South Division and will make an appearance in the NEAC tournament semifinals...GU is a top 10 scoring offense in NCAA Division III...GU, as a team, leads the NEAC in points, steals, assists and rebounds per gam...the Bison are first in the NEAC for points per game (80.3), field goals made per game (30.4), field goal attempts per game (74.4), points (2,008), free throw percentage (72.8), offensive rebounds per game (19.1), rebounds per game (45.9), assists per game (17.5), steals per game (12.0).
