GU bounces back with win over Wells, 61-37

AURORA, N.Y. - Gallaudet University bounced back here Sunday with a 61-37 victory over Wells College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women's basketball game.

Gallaudet (14-9, 11-3 NEAC) made three straight 3-pointers to start the game and jumped out to a 22-8 lead in the first quarter. The Bison took a 31-22 lead into halftime in the Schwartz Center.

The Bison shut down Wells (3-20, 2-12 NEAC) in the second half as they only allowed six points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth.

Junior guard Kendall Hudson (Blissfield, Mich.) led the way with a double-double as she recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard/forward Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) was held to 16 points and 11 rebounds to go with three assists, two blocks and one steal. Senior guard Sabina Shysh (Tucson, Ariz.) was the third Bison in double figures with 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

The Express were led by Shelby Medovich's game-high 22 points and seven rebounds.


  • Sophomore guard Emelia Beldon (Frederick, Md.) added four points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals
  • Senior forward Kelli Barnes (Cliffside, N.C.) tallied six points and five rebounds 
  • GU scored 32 points in the paint
  • The Bison scored 21 points off 17 turnovers
  • Gallaudet held a 52-43 edge in rebounds

GU returns home to host Lancaster Bible College (8-15, 6-8 NEAC) on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 5 p.m. in the Field House on Padden Court. The Bison will be wearing pink to show their support for breast cancer awareness. Fans are encourage to wear pink as well to show their support.
