Hood blazes by Gallaudet

FREDERICK, Md. – The Gallaudet University women's soccer team could not overcome a two-goal first half by non-conference opponent Hood College on the road Wednesday afternoon as the Blazers shutout the Bison, 4-0.

The Blazers (3-6) attacked early as sophomore Jessica Herbert knocked in an unassisted goal in the 11th minute. Herbert led Hood with two goals and one assist. The Blazers led 2-0 at halftime.

Herbert opened the second half with another quick unassisted goal in the 49th minute and assisted freshman Nicole Jouan on the fourth goal in the 79th minute.

The Bison (0-10-1) had an opportunity to score early in the game as junior Sofia Lindevall (Stockholm, Sweden) had a one-on-one breakaway but sailed the shot high in the fifth minute. Sophomore Jennifer Livengood (Jacksonville, Fla.) got her first career start as a Bison and played tough in net as she made eight saves of the 12 shots on goal (28 total shots) she faced.

Gallaudet will return home to host the College of St. Elizabeth in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at Hotchkiss Field.
