WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's soccer team was shut out at home Saturday as they fell 7-0 against Morrisville State College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) game.
The Mustangs (5-7-1, 4-6 NEAC) scored early against the Bison (2-11, 1-9 NEAC), netting three goals in just over 21 minutes of play. Morrisville State carried a 3-0 lead into halftime before scoring another four goals before the 61st minute.
Sophomore Deltona Markel (Austin, Texas) made her second start in cage for the Bison and made seven saves. Gallaudet was held to seven shots.
Morrisville State was led by three goal scorers. Midfielder Kelly Brennan netted three goals for a hat trick while forwards Jillian Hughes and Ashley Capron each scored twice.
- This is the fifth straight shutout loss for the Bison
- Sophomore forward Brittany Mallach (Milton, Ontario) took six shots
- Gallaudet took one corner kick
- This was Markel's third appearance in net for the Bison this season
- GU was outshot 25-7
The Bison remain at home tomorrow (Sunday, Oct. 16) when they host Cazenovia College (7-8-1, 4-5 NEAC) at Hotchkiss Field at noon.
