GU women's soccer lose in double overtime to Penn St.-Abington

ABINGTON, Pa. - Gallaudet University scored a game-tying goal in the 72nd minute here Saturday as the Bison went into overtime against Penn St.-Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest. The two teams needed two overtime frames before the host Nittany Lions scored the game-winner at the 108:25 mark when Haley Miller netted her fifth goal of the season off an assist from Michelle Latronica to end the game, 3-2.

Gallaudet (6-5, 2-4 NEAC) received goals from its one, two punch of junior forward Brittany Mallach (Milton, Ontario) and freshman forward Danielle Wheeler (San Jose, Calif.). Mallach scored in the 40th minute while Wheeler scored in the 72nd minute.

Penn St.-Abington (5-7, 3-2 NEAC) scored the game's first two scores. Miller scored just over a minute in as the Nittany Lions led 1-0 early. Penn St.-Abington added a second goal off the head of Greta Sheridan off an assist from Latronica as the Nittany Lions led 2-1 at the half. 

Sophomore goalie Silvya Levesque (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) made 11 saves for the Bison while her counterpart Samantha Friend stopped seven shots.

Gallaudet returns home and will host Lancaster Bible College (4-7-2, 3-1-1 NEAC) on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m.
