GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Gallaudet University women's soccer team was picked 10th in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) preseason coaches poll announced on Tuesday. The Bison accumulated 32 points in the 12-team preseason poll.
Gallaudet finished last season with a 8-7-1 record and 3-6-1 mark in conference play. Gallaudet showed quite the improvement last season where the Bison gained six wins from their 2016 total to finish with a winning record and new school record marks for wins (8) and goals (55).
Five-time defending NEAC champion Penn St.-Berks is No. 1 as the Nittany Lions claimed 10 first-place votes and 118 points. Keuka College is second with 102 points and one first-place vote while SUNY Poly (91), Lancaster Bible College (89) and Penn College (88) round out the top five. The Chargers were the third team to receive a first-place vote as they placed fourth overall.
Gallaudet will be begin the season on the road with a short trip over to Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, Md., on Friday, Aug. 31, at 4 p.m.

The preseason poll rankings were conducted by the NEAC women's soccer coaches, with each coach ranking out all teams but their own using a staggered points system (11 points for a first-place vote, 10 points for second, etc.). No self-voting was allowed. This is the fourth year the NEAC has held preseason polls.
