WASHINGTON - The Gallaudet University women's soccer team was shut out here Wednesday evening by Penn St.-Abington, 4-0, in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) match.

The Bison women's soccer team sported special rainbow shoe laces today as they participated in the second annual #PlayWithPride week, sponsored by the United Soccer Coaches LGBT & Allies Advocacy Group. Teams across the country are showing their support for athletes and coaches of all sexual orientations by wearing rainbow laces during the Second Annual Play With Pride Week during Sept. 17-23, 2018.

Penn St.-Abington (2-3-1, 1-2 NEAC) scored two goals in each half as four different Nittany Lions scored goals against the Bison. The visitors did their most damage off free kicks as they scored on long-range shots from 20-25 yards out.

Gallaudet (3-4, 1-2 NEAC) was limited to seven shots as half came from two players. Sophomore midfielder Sharon Castillo (Dallas, Texas) and senior midfielder Sabina Shysh (Tucson, Ariz.) led the team with two shots each. GU had four shots on goal including one off Castillo's foot.

  • Junior goalie Silvya Levesque (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) had 11 saves
  • Gallaudet tallied four corner kicks, two in each half
  • Penn St.-Abington outshot GU, 22-7

Gallaudet will travel to Reading, Pa., this Saturday, Sept. 22, to take on Penn St.-Berks (2-2-1, 2-0 NEAC) at 1 p.m. The Nittany Lions are the five-time defending NEAC champions.
