READING, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women's soccer team faced a tough task Saturday on the road going up against Penn St.-Berks, the five-time defending North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) champions. The Nittany Lions shut out the Bison, 10-0.
Gallaudet (3-4, 1-3 NEAC) was limited to two shots, taken by senior midfielder Sabina Shysh (Tucson, Ariz.) in the second half on an overcast and cool Saturday on the first day of autumn.
Junior goalie Silvya Levesque (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) made a season-high 17 saves in the loss.
Penn St.-Berks (4-2-1, 4-0 NEAC) put pressure on the Bison defense early as it scored four minutes into the match. The Nittany Lions scored three more times in the first half to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
The Nittany Lions scored six more goals in the second half, two coming off the foot of Caitlin Golden, who ended the day with a hat trick and 12 goals this season.
