WASHINGTON – Gallaudet University hosted Cazenovia College on Friday night in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) meet. The women were unable to hold off the Wildcats as they lost 130-75, while the men received an 11-0 forfeit by the Cazenovia men's team.
Sophomore Thyra Wood (Great Falls, Mont.) was the only Bison to finish first in a race as she won the 100 yard freestyle in 1:03.32. Despite the rough night for the women's swimming team, six Bison women beat nine of their previous personal best times. Junior Chelsea Newberry (Twin Falls, Idaho) cut 10 seconds off of her 100-yard freestyle time (1:57.93) and 13 seconds off her 50 butterfly time (1:08.49) as she did her part in two relays for the Bison.
