Bison make outdoor track debut at Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet

SALISBURY, Md. - The Gallaudet University women's track and field program made its 2019 outdoor debut here Saturday at the Lloyd Sigler Spring Meet hosted by Salisbury University. No team scores were kept for this five-team meet.

Senior Sabina Shysh (Tucson, Ariz.), made her track debut after the women's basketball season concluded, and finished second in the 100-meter dash (14.03) and fourth in the 200-meter dash (30.83).

Freshman Hannah Wetzel (Fremont, Calif.) won the high jump with a leap of 1.45 meters followed by Shysh with the same height.

Sophomore Sabrina Hernandez (Ashland, Va.) placed third in the javelin with a toss of 24.45 meters.

GU took second through fifth in the shot put, led by sophomore Carina Dominguez Can (Hillsboro, Ore.) with a toss of 7.24 meters.


  • Freshman Cassie Friday (Flinton, Pa.) was fifth in the 100-meter dash (15.50) followed by freshman Quanchen Warmack (Danville, Ky.) in sixth (15.51)
  • Friday and Warmack were sixth (32.99) and seventh (34.50), respectively, in the 200-meter dash
  • Sophomore Nia Ralston (Danville, Ky.) was the top Bison thrower in the hammer as she placed seventh (17.67 meters)
  • Freshman Sierra Pratt (Katy, Texas) was 10th in the 1,500-meter run (6:25.42)

Gallaudet will next compete at the Seahawk Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) next weekend (March 8-9) in Wilmington, N.C.
