WILMINGTON, N.C. - The first day of the 2019 Wendy's Seahawk Track & Field Invitational, hosted by UNC Wilmington (UNCW), is in the books after 14 schools competed at the newly-renovated Harold Greene Track & Field Complex here Friday. No team scores were kept.
Gallaudet freshman Hannah Wetzel (Fremont, Calif.) placed 11th in the long jump with a leap of 4.50 meters, that came on her first jump of three.
Senior Sabina Shysh (Tucson, Ariz.) was GU's top sprinter in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.21 seconds (15th place) posted in the first heat.
Sophomore Carina Dominguez Can (Hillsboro, Ore.) was Gallaudet's top thrower in the hammer. She had a top toss of 18.62 meters (15th place) set on her third and final throw.
- Junior Quanchen Warmack (Danville, Ky.) was 17th in the 100-meter dash (15.72) tied with freshman Cassie Friday (Flinton, Pa.)
- Sophomore Kathy Romero (Broadway, N.Y.) was 19th in the 100-meter dash (16.12) followed by sophomore Krista Kachnik (Henderson, Nev.) in 20th (16.21)
- Sophomore Nia Ralston (Danville, Ky.) was 16th in the hammer (16.74 meters) followed by freshman Tyler Mitchell (Perrysburg, Ohio) in 17th (16.10 meters)
- Freshman Jaelynn King (Springfield, Pa.) was 18th in the hammer (12.50 meters)
The second day of the 2019 Wendy's Seahawk Track & Field Invitational gets underway tomorrow (Saturday, March 9) at 10 a.m.
