Paige Johnson named NEAC Volleyball Player of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference player of the week awards and Gallaudet University junior setter Paige Johnson (North Richland Hills, Texas) was named the volleyball recipient for the week of September 6.

Johnson led the Bison with 139 assists in four matches at the Battlefield Classic, hosted by Gettysburg College, last weekend. Gallaudet (4-0) was one of two teams in the 13-team field to finish the classic undefeated. GU beat Widener, Westminster (Pa.), Rutgers-Camden and Penn St.-Mont Alto. Johnson added 41 digs, 16 kills and six blocks to her stat line. She averaged 8.69 assists per set in the 16 sets she played over the weekend. In the 3-2 win over Widener she finished with 44 assists and 22 digs, both highs for the week.

This is the first-ever NEAC player of the week award for the Bison since they joined the conference this past summer.

Gallaudet will next travel to Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday, September 8, for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
