GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Nov. 3 and freshman utility player Darriyan Thomas (Vallejo, Calif.) was chosen as the NEAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Bison to a 2-1 record on the week.
The freshman was a force on the court for the Bison, totaling a double-digit dig total in all three matches, 41 in the week. Her break through match was against regionally ranked Lebanon Valley College last Saturday as she posted 19 digs and four blocks (one solo) helping slow down an impressive LVC attack as the Bison won, 3-2. The wins improved Gallaudet's overall record to 20-13 as the four-time defending NEAC champions prepare for the upcoming conference tournament.
This is Thomas's first NEAC Player of the Week award and the third Bison honored this season.
