Julia Wolff named NEAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Oct. 6 and senior middle hitter Julia Wolff (Belleville, Ontario) was chosen as the NEAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Bison keep their perfect NEAC record (8-0) over the weekend and defeating Hood College earlier in the week.

The senior was a force at the net for the Bison, averaging nearly a block per set to help Gallaudet sweep four matches and drop just one set during a perfect 5-0 week. Four of those wins came during NEAC Crossover play hosted by Penn St.-Abington this past weekend, where Wolf opened play with three solo blocks while assisting on three others in a 3-0 sweep over the host Nittany Lions on Friday night. She then swatted two kill attempts on her own while assisting on another and adding five digs in a 3-1 win over Penn St.-Berks later that night, before adding three more blocks and digs in a pair of sweeps Saturday. Wolff also helped spark the offense, knocking home at least 10 kills in all five wins while posting a .485 hitting percentage for the Bison, who are now 8-0 in the NEAC and 14-10 overall.

This is Wolff's first NEAC Player of the Week award and the second Bison to be honored this season. Senior Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) was named NEAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week last week (Sept. 29).

GU women's volleyball team will host Wooster College (5-14) on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Field House.
