ABINGTON, Pa. – It was another step in the right direction for Gallaudet University as its women's volleyball team picked up two North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) wins on Friday night on the campus of Penn St.-Abington.
Gallaudet (12-10, 6-0 NEAC) defeated the host Nittany Lions in straight sets; 25-8, 25-13, 25-14 and then beat Penn St.-Berks in four sets; 25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 25-19.
Senior outside hitter Kali Frowick (Norfolk, Neb.) led the Bison with 12 kills, 20 digs, two service aces and two blocks (one solo) while senior Julia Wolff (Belleville, Ontario) matched her with 12 kills and made three blocks (two solos). Junior Danielle Morris (St. Louis, Mich.) added nine kills, 14 digs, two block solos and two service aces. Sophomore Giuletta Maucere (Frederick, Md.) added nine kills while junior TraciAnn Hoglind (Fishers, Ind.) passed out 43 assists and made 11 digs in the win.
In the Penn St.-Abington match, Wolff led the Bison with 11 kills and six blocks (three solos) followed by Frowick's eight kills, Hoglind's 27 assists and two service aces and Morris' six kills and three block assists. The Bison had eight service aces in the win.
The Bison are back in action tomorrow (Saturday, Oct. 4) as they face College of St. Elizabeth and Penn College at 10 a.m. and noon, respectively, in two more conference games being played at Penn St.-Abington.
