Thomas honored with second NEAC Player of the Week award

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Oct. 19 and Gallaudet University's Darriyan Thomas (Vallejo, Calif.) has earned Player of the Week for the second week in a row. 

This is Thomas's second NEAC honor this season after being named Co-Player of the Week on Oct. 12. Thomas stood alone this week after totaling 63 kills and 53 digs while averagine 4.7 points per set during a 3-1 week for the Bison. The sophomore outside hitter tallied double-doubles in three of the four matches, starting with 15 kills and 13 digs during a non-conference match up at Stevenson University last Wednesday. Thomas started NEAC pool play at Penn College with two or more such outings, including a career-high 29 kills and 17 digs alongside three aces in a 3-2 win over Lancaster Bible College before registering 12 kills and 15 digs in a 3-0 sweep over Penn St.-Berks. She then closed the weekend with seven kills and eight digs in a 3-0 sweep over the host Wildcats to help the Bison go 3-0 in conference action.

The Bison (17-8, 8-1 NEAC) are one of three teams with 8-1 conference records as Thomas leads the NEAC in total kills (290), and points (332), is third in kills per set (3.37) and eighth in digs (255).


This is Gallaudet's seventh NEAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors this season

The women's volleyball team will play at home on Tuesday, Oct. 20, to host nationally-ranked Christopher Newport University at 7 p.m.
