Bison sweep NEAC Women's Volleyball Players of the Week honors for second time

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its weekly conference student-athlete of the week awards for Sept. 28 and for the second time this month Gallaudet University swept the NEAC Women's Volleyball Players of the Week honors. Senior middle hitter Danielle Morris (St. Louis, Mich.) was named the NEAC Women's Volleyball Player of the week and junior Giuletta Maucere (Fishers, Ind.) was named the NEAC Women's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

This is the first Player of the Week award for Morris as she registered 41 kills, 32 digs, nine aces and six blocks in 13 sets to lead the Bison to a 3-1 week, including three conference wins. In a NEAC weekend hosted by Bryn Athyn College, Morris smashed 28 kills on a .481 hitting percentage, which included 15 kills with no errors to go with 13 digs and six service aces in a straight-win set over St. Elizabeth on Saturday. She also leads the conference with a .409 hitting percentage.

Maucere has earned the Defensive Player of the Week award for the second time this season and the third time in her career. Maucere continued to be a force up front for the Bison as she totaled 12 blocks and averaged a block per set during a 3-1 week for the Bison. She had at least one solo block in all four Bison matches, including two in a pair of 3-0 wins on Saturday over St. Elizabeth and Penn St.-Abington, respectively.
