BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - It was a successful weekend for the Gallaudet University women's volleyball team as it got back in the win column with three conference wins during North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) pool play hosted by Bryn Athyn College.
The Bison (9-3, 3-0 NEAC) survived a minor scare from the host Lions push GU past 25 points in the second and third sets. Gallaudet hung on to win 25-17, 26-24 and 31-29 late on Friday night.
Gallaudet won in straight sets over College of Saint Elizabeth, 25-22, 25-14, 25-17, and Penn St.-Abington, 25-9, 25-11, 25-16, on Saturday.
Senior Danielle Morris (St. Louis, Mich.) led the Bison with 28 kills, 17 digs and had six service aces against St. Elizabeth. Senior setter TraciAnn Hoglind (Fishers, Ind.) passed out 97 assists and had a weekend best 39 against the Eagles of St. Elizabeth. Sophomore Darriyan Thomas (Vallejo, Calif.) knocked down 25 kills, made 20 digs and eight service aces.
- Gallaudet served up 28 service aces in the nine sets played
- The Bison have won four straight NEAC regular-season matches dating back to last season
- GU only had 16 attack errors on Saturday in six sets
- Senior Molly Perkins (Apple Valley, Minn.) tallied 25 kills and freshman Tessa Lewis (Frederick, Md.) recorded 24 kills during the three matches
Gallaudet will travel out of conference to Shenandoah University on Thursday, Oct. 1, for a 7 p.m. match.
