WASHINGTON – The Gallaudet University women's volleyball made the short trip to Brentwood on Wednesday evening to face local rival Catholic University of America and lost, 3-1, in the DuFour Center.
Gallaudet (19-11) won the first set 25-20 before losing the final three sets 14-25, 23-25, 21-25.
The Bison served up nine service aces and knocked down 55 kills in the four-set loss. Sophomore Darriyan Thomas (Vallejo, Calif.) recorded her 14th double-double with 15 kills and 17 digs while seniors Danielle Morris (St. Louis, Mich.) and Molly Perkins (Apple Valley, Minn.) recorded 13 and 12 kills, respectively. Morris made 17 digs and two blocks in the loss.
Catholic (16-15) was led by Mary Paige Nesfeder's 17 kills, 14 digs, three assists, one service ace and one block. CUA head coach Nagy Abdelrazek won his 500th career match with tonight's win.
- Sophomore Kylene Etkie (Austin, Texas) served up five service aces
- Freshman Raelyn Fuechtmann (South St. Paul, Minn.) made 16 digs and two aces
- Junior Daisy Jo Robinson (Fairbault, Minn.) passed out 44 assists
- GU defeated Catholic, 3-2, last year in the Field House
The Bison will close out the regular-season schedule on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Scranton, Pa., against Lebanon Valley College and University of Scranton in a tri-match.
