INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team (21-15) will travel to Brockport, N.Y., to face regional host The College at Brockport (32-3) in the first round of the 2016 NCAA Division III women's volleyball championship on Friday, Nov. 11, at 8 p.m. on the Brcokport campus.

The Bison earned the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament after going undefeated in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship tournament this past weekend in Marcy, N.Y. The Bison defeated Penn St.-Abington, Morrisville State College and SUNY Polytechnic Institute in the three-day conference tournament as the Bison won their seventh straight NEAC championship. The Bison hold a 2-11 all-time record in their 11 appearances in the NCAA tournament. This is the eighth time GU has appeared in the NCAA tournament under head coach Lynn Ray Boren, who is now in his 12th season.

Brockport claimed its second straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) championship with a 3-1 win over SUNY New Paltz to earn the SUNYAC's automatic bid. The Golden Eagles are making their second straight appearance in the NCAA tournament, 10th overall, and reached the 30-win mark for the first time since 1994. Brockport is 5-9 all-time in NCAA tournament matches.

Brockport is one of the eight regional hosts. The other first round matches at Brockport will feature Susquehanna (31-7) vs. Clarkson (21-14) at 12:30 p.m., No. 8 Emory (30-5) vs. New Rochelle (21-9) at 3 p.m. and Ithaca (26-5) vs. Middlebury (18-18) at 5:30 p.m. followed by Brockport-Gallaudet. The winners will advance to Saturday's second round which begins at 2:30 p.m. and the regional final on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Gallaudet looks to ride the momentum from the NEAC tournament and try to advance past the first round for the first time since 2006 when the Bison lost to the eventual national champion, Juniata, in the regional final. The Bison have gone up against three other tournament teams in No. 15 Mary Washington, No. 24 Christopher Newport and Stevenson. Gallaudet and Brockport have three common opponents this season in DeSales, Scranton and SUNY Poly.

The quarterfinal round will begin on Nov. 17 at University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in Oshkosh, Wis., with the semifinals and finals continuing through the weekend. The championship will be on Nov. 19.
