GU women's volleyball records back-to-back sweeps

MORRISTOWN, N.J. - The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team traveled to New Jersey where they faced off against North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) teams Penn St.-Abington and Bryn Athyn College on Saturday. The Bison looked dominant as they swept Penn St.-Abington and Bryn Athyn in straight sets.

The Bison (9-10, 5-1 NEAC) started the day strong winning the first three sets 25-15, 25-21, and 25-20 against the Nittany Lions. Freshman middle hitter Adele Daniels (Frederick, Md.) led the way for the Bison with 15 kills. Junior setter Jasmine Jeter (Noblesville, Ind.) was credited with 31 assists. Sophomore libero Raelyn Fuechtmann (South St. Paul, Minn.) led the defense with 19 digs. The team combined for eight service aces over three sets.

GU returned to the court later that afternoon and showed no signs of fatigue as they swept Bryn Athyn College, 25-20, 25-17, 25-10. While Daniels kept up the pressure with her fierce fire power (14 kills), junior captain and outside hitter Darriyan Thomas (Vallejo, Calif.), once again, demonstrated her two-way talent scoring a double-double (10 kills, 12 digs).

  • The Bison recorded a total of 18 service aces over six sets.
  • Thomas was credited with 24 kills in six sets

The Bison are back on the court tomorrow (Sunday, Oct. 2) at 10 a.m. when they face the College of St. Elizabeth for a NEAC match.
