Bison drop two matches on the road

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Gallaudet University women's volleyball team renewed its annual rivalry with Lebanon Valley College and University of Scranton on Friday evening in Ft. Indiantown Gap, Pa., and came away with two losses. The Bison (11-13) lost in straight sets to Lebanon Valley and dropped a 3-1 decision to Scranton.

The Bison played every set close before falling 25-19, 25-18, 25-16 against the Dutchmen. Freshman middle hitter Adele Daniels (Frederick, Md.) led the offense with 10 kills and seven digs. Junior outside hitter Darriyan Thomas (Vallejo, Calif.) had an off night with seven kills on 35 attempts and eight errors. Junior setter Jasmine Jeter (Noblesville, Ind.) passed out 23 assists and four aces while sophomore Raelyn Fuechtmann (South St. Paul, Minn.) led the Bison with 11 digs.

Gallaudet came out and won the first set against Scranton 25-17 before the Royals reeled off three straight set wins 22-25, 19-25, 16-25. Daniels led the way with 12 kills and five digs while Thomas made a team best 15 digs and five service aces. Jeter passed out 28 assists and Fuechtmann added 11 digs. The Bison service game was helpful with 12 aces.

Gallaudet will next travel to Fredericksburg, Va., on Wednesday, Oct. 12, to face nationally ranked University of Mary Washington at 7 p.m. in a non-conference game.
